As part of the Walton County School District eSmart initiative, each student will receive a school-issued Chromebook and charger. Parents/guardians and students can purchase the Chromebook Usage and Protection Plan (UPP), which secures a discounted repair rate for any damages to the Chromebooks. The Protection Plan also allows the students to take home the Chromebooks. The cost of the Chromebook protection plan is $10 this year.
On these checkout days, students and their guardians will come to the school at their convenience to complete the Chromebook assignment process for the 2019-2020 school year. In order to complete this process, the following steps will be taken.
Step 1: Students and guardians will come to the LHS front lobby to sign the Chromebook usage agreement form. If you would like to complete the form ahead of time, CLICK HERE. This form can be downloaded, printed, and completed before arriving on Distribution Day. (There are also copies of the form available in the front office of the school.)
- If both the students and guardians have completed all of the information on the form, the guardians do not have to come accompany their students to Distribution Day.
- If the form is not complete, both the student and guardian will need to attend the Chromebook Distribution Day because the form requires both student and guardian signatures.
Step 2: Students and/or guardians will come to the LHS Cafeteria to pay the Chromebook usage and protection plan fee. The cost this year is $20.00. This payment allows your student to take home the Chromebook and also reduces the cost of repairs. This fee can be paid online at www.mypaymentsplus.com or by cash.
Paying this fee before coming to Chromebook Distribution Day may reduce your wait time. Simply print your receipt or bring in your confirmation number. There will be computers available that day for guardians who need help accessing My Payments Plus.
All parents planning to pay with credit card or check must pay through the My Payments Plus website, which is also used for online meal payment and for a variety of other activities including parking passes, dance entry fees, prom dues, athletic passes, etc. If you do not have an account, please create one. You will need to know your student’s ID number to set one up. Ask your student for the number or contact the school. For more information on how to set up an account, go to https://www.lhsmediacenter.com/my-payments-plus-help.html.
Step 3: Pick up assigned Chromebook.
We estimate the entire checkout process will take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on how many students are present when you attend.
If students are unable to come on Chromebook Distribution Day, the Chromebook usage and protection fee can be paid online and the usage agreement form can be turned into the Media Center during the first week of school.
