We are here for you!We have many (10,000+) print resources available for teachers, parents, and other staff to check out and use for projects in class or for leisure reading. We gather materials for a variety of topics or for outside reading (contemporary or classic literature). If there is an item we do not have, we can borrow it from other schools or the public library.
Teachers may send students to the Media Center during the day with a pass. Students are able to come to the Media Center before school starting at 7:10 every morning. We are open to students for book checkout and technology assistance during lunches. We are open after school until 3:30 pm. Videos
All videos in the Media Center collection do not need administrative approval.
Any non-school owned videos that are less than 15 minutes do not need administrative approval before viewing in the classroom. If a teacher would like to show a video longer than 15 minutes, written permission must be obtained by the following process. Remember there is no official approved video list.
Chromebooks![]() Due to all the construction at LHS, we were not able to distribute any Chromebooks early this year. It will be at least the second day of school or the following week. We are encouraging everyone to pay online where they will be required to complete the Chromebook Usage and Protection Plan form. Once a student's payment has been made, we will give his or her Chromebook to the advisor to distribute. We appreciate your patience during the process.
Clear Touch Interactive PanelsNeed more help with the Clear Touch panels? The BOE Instructional Technology department has some great videos to help you! You can get to the videos by going to the Portal and choosing InstTech icon.
Wish ListLet us know if you have found any books, videos or other resources that would benefit your students and enrich instruction.
Please send us as much information as you can about the resource (title, author, director, date of publication or release, summary, etc.), and we will try to get it for you. GALILEO (GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning Online) is a wonderful resource for students and teachers.
If your students need magazine or journal articles, they can find thousands of reliable articles on GALILEO. When using GALILEO at home, you will need to use the password. The password currently is uphold. It will change on August 31. If you would like us to teach a lesson to your classes on GALILEO, let us know Grademaster Forms![]() Forms for the Grademaster scanner are available in the Media Center office. The scanner is located in the B214 teacher workroom.

Media Center Orientation
Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl TeamAre you looking for a fun club to sponsor at LHS? Do you love to read and enjoy competition? We are looking for a co-sponsor this year for the award winning Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl team. The team meets every other Monday in the Media Center from 2:50 to 3:30 pm with practices increasing in frequency starting in November.
PrintingWe have offered free printing to students in the last few years since many of students cannot afford to have a printer at home and/or the supplies. We are spending a good bit of our Media Center budget on ink and paper. Students sometimes are printing the same documents several times because they have made mistakes, etc.
With that said, we would like to try something different this year. If you need your students to print something, please collect all the documents from your students electronically. You can send to share them with us, and we will print them for you. Media Center PassesPlease remember to use the pink passes for any student you send to the Media Center. These passes should be filled out completely, with the name of each student being sent to work. Also please send no more than four students at a time. The media specialists will write the time the students leave the Media Center and any other pertinent information so make sure to check the pass when the students return to class. If you need more pink passes throughout the school year, please let us know and we will deliver them to you!
Poster Printer![]() If you are making a poster to print on the Media Center poster maker printer, here are some suggested formats:
.jpg Slides Powerpoint If you file is not in these formats, we will do our best to convert them into the file type that is optimal for the poster printer. HelpDesk Tickets![]() A couple of reminders:
Need To Reschedule? If you have planned to bring your class to the Media Center and have to be absent on the scheduled day, remember to please change your lesson plans; substitutes are not allowed to bring students to the Media Center. Thank you!
Book SwapThere is a bookshelf in the B214 workroom. No need to check these out--just browse, take what you like and return whenever! Happy reading!!
Students NeededWe spend a lot of time communicating with students about their Chromebooks---repairs, fees, lost and found Chromebooks, etc. Because they do not regularly check their email, the only way to communicate with the students is in person. We often times have to send notices to their classes requesting they come see us. On the notices, we usually check the box that says "Anytime Today". This means that they can come to see us anytime....it does not have to be in your class. We prefer them to stop by during their lunches or before or after school. We do not want them missing your classes.
